A Brief Discussion on T-Commerce (Television Commerce)

                         The retail industry is growing day by  day and the “Omni Channel Commerce” is becoming the buzzword. The consumer purchasing journey is unpredictable. The consumer may start the journey on mobile, but the journey of purchase will end in-store. To tap in the consumer the retailers are introducing all the commerce touch points like Mobile Commerce, Social Commerce, e-commerce, in-store, kiosks etc… Let us introduce T-Commerce(Television Commerce) to the Omni Channel world. 

Omni Channel Commerce

                          The  television as one more possible channel to the “Omni Channel”.  The increase in the connected television/smart tv stats are encouraging to introduce commerce on television. The stats from Statista are encouraging the same.

                        On on average every US citizen is spending 5 hrs per day by watching TV and the advertisers are spending $71 Billion on commercial ads on television. As per the survey 21% of the consumers are trusting the brand through television commercials. Based on the  stats, there are good chances to convert  the television viewers into consumers if we come up with Television commerce.  The T-Commerce is achievable with DTH and the connected TVs(later series of blog posts we will see the approaches to achieve the T-Commerce).  When consumers are watching their favorite Television Show, we can display the products used by their favorite stars on the screen to purchase. The viewer can use the remote to add the products to the shopping cart and place the order. The sample screen to display the products is given below.

                         In the coming article we will see the high level approaches to achieve the T-Commerce.
