If you see the below characteristics in your data and you want to analyse the data very quickly, then you have opportunity to use big data.
Volume: The data will be very huge where single system cannot hold it and process it. For example, Aadhaar generates Terabytes of data per day and the data will grow exponentially over the period of time.
Velocity: This factor tells us how fast the data is coming in and how fast you required the analysis of the data.
Variety: The data might be structured, unstructured, semi structured. For example images, text, videos, pdf etc…
